Course description

 This City & Guilds Level 2 industry recognised plastering qualification is specifically designed for beginners looking to gain a qualification to enter the construction industry as a plasterer. The course encompasses the knowledge & skills required to work as a plasterer or set up your own business.
 
 
The course will also grant you the technical skill & knowledge needed to further apply for a NVQ Level 2 once you are working on site and gained site experience, after which you can apply for a blue CSCS card. 
 
Once you have registered for your course and paid your deposit, you will then be given access to our virtual learning platform (SmartScreen) within 48 hours. Following this an invoice will be generated for you. 

The initial date you book online will be for your practical module. This course can be completed in two week blocks. The dates for the blocks can be booked throughout the year to give you as much flexibilty as possible.

Course Content

Schedule & Duration:

  • 8 weeks Monday – Friday (9:00am – 4:30pm, breaks included)
  • 21 consecutive weekends (8:30am – 5:30pm, breaks included)

For this course, we usually have theory lessons in the morning, and practical work in the afternoons.

We provide you with your own plastering work area & equipment (materials & tools included except safety boots which you need) You will have access to:

We are located in CV7 9NH, just off the M6 motorway and close to several food places and hotels nearby.

Diploma

 To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Plastering (6708-23), learners must complete the following units: 201, 202, 221, 222, 223 and 224.

Units 201 and 202 are theory-based units, and will take approximately two weeks of study time (with extra time allocated for home study and exam preparation).  These two units are a fundamental part of this qualification, and must be completed and passed prior to certification.

*Units 201 and 202 are also completed for our Level 2 Bricklaying course and do not have to be redone if you wish to pursue that as well with us.

What do we offer?

Our course is a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification and is benchmarked at the same level as a GCSE A-C grade. The course is approximately 25% classroom-based and 75% practical, and also includes a certain amount of home study that takes approximately two hours per week.

As training providers, the most important thing for us is that by the end of the course we will have built your confidence and you have the ability to take on any plastering projects. Here at CBWA we employ only the best tutors: friendly & professional tradespeople who have decades of trade experience. Therefore our tutors have up to date industry knowledge and lots of experience in training people.

This course has a maximum of 10 students at a time so that each student gets enough guidance and tuition from our tutors, ensuring you complete the course with all of the required knowledge and understanding.  It allows you to ask questions on your mind and get plenty of one-to-one tuition throughout the course.

On this course we use the latest products from British Gypsum, Knauf such as board finish, multi finish, drywall adhesive whilst on our course you are trained using tools manufactured by Ox, Refina, Marshall Town.

Assessment

All Units are assessed against the City & Guilds criteria, and proceed as follows:

Six practical exams, which include: internal plastering, drylining, floor screeding and external rendering

Six theory exams
completed online in our IT suite => these exams are externally graded against the City & Guild criteria. All exams are multi-choice, with one question and four possible answers provided. We have mock paper tests available to students, and these are taken and the answers discussed before students take the actual exam

You will be expected to spend approximately 2 hours per week doing home study in order to complete your portfolio that allows you to meet the City & Guilds guided learning hours for this qualification. While not mandatory we also recommend that you purchase the City & Guilds Level 2 Plastering book that is designed to deliver the knowledge required for this Level 2 course.

All of the above modules will be carried out here at our purpose built dedicated training centre where we have various simulated training bays for you to carry out your practical assignments and our own computer suite linked to City and Guilds for you to take all of your online tests.

Units 201 and 202 are assessed by an online exam set by City & Guilds.

What comes after?

Upon completion, this City & Guilds Level 2 industry recognised course will grant you an extremely wide and complete understanding of the skills and knowledge required on how to start working as a plasterer, as the course is specifically designed for students with little to no experience.  Most students leave this course and go on site to get experience working alongside a team of plasterers and gain site experience.  In order to do this you must get a CSCS card, you will start off with a green card and need to then gain site experience and pass your NVQ2 before applying for a blue card.
